This privacy policy describes how the Ward 54 INC — Kolkata mobile application (the “App”) operated by the Ward 54 unit of the Indian National Congress, Kolkata Municipal Corporation, handles your information. By using the App you agree to this policy.
The App is mainly for viewing public civic information and does not require you to create an account. We only collect the information you choose to give us:
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we do NOT collect:
To understand overall reach, we keep anonymous, aggregate counts only — for example, the total number of visits, which sections are opened most, whether a device is mobile or desktop, and the broad source of a visit (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook, or direct). These counts contain no personal data: no name, no IP address, no precise location, and nothing that can identify you as an individual. They are visible only to ward administrators and are used purely to improve the service.
The App is a thin wrapper around our public website at https://kolkata54ward.in/. When you open the App, it loads the same publicly available information that anyone could view in a web browser:
The voter list shown in the App is the official electoral roll published by the Election Commission of India under public-disclosure norms. We display it for the convenience of Ward 54 residents. If you believe your entry should be updated, please contact your nearest Booth Level Officer (BLO) or visit https://www.nvsp.in/.
Information you submit (membership name and phone, or a complaint) is stored securely using Google Firebase, a Google Cloud service that processes it on our behalf and encrypts it in transit. Access to this submitted data is restricted to authorised Ward 54 committee administrators. We may disclose information only where required by law. We do not sell or share your personal data with any other third party.
Some screens of the App are gated behind an administrator login and are intended only for Ward 54 INC office bearers. Administrators sign in with an email and password through Google Firebase Authentication; ordinary visitors never need to log in. Admin sign-in does not affect or expose any visitor's data.
The website that the App loads uses your device's local storage to remember interface preferences (such as the last-opened section). This data never leaves your device and is automatically cleared when you uninstall the App or clear app data.
The App is intended for adult voters and party workers (18 years and older). We do not knowingly direct the App to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we ever change this policy we will update the “Last updated” date at the top and post the new version at the same URL. Material changes will also be announced inside the App on the Digital Notice Board.
